Flight Lieutenant Gordon Berridge RAF

Gordon Berridge arrived on the squadron in November 1942 (HCU unknown). His first four operations were in the second pilot role attacking Turin on three occasions and Stuttgart, the last two of which were flown with S/Ldr Hiles DFC and S/Ldr Samson. In January he and his crew carried out a successful mining operation, there followed a further 17 operations. On April 24th he was accompanied by Sgt A Aaron to Duisburg in Stirling BF515 HA-N. On the night of April 28/29th 1943 the Berridge crew were tasked to mine the SWEETPEA 2 mining area, they never returned.   The crew were shot down by Unteroffizier Berg of 7./NJG3 over Kalundborg at 00:56hrs, there were no survivors.
