Flight Sergeant Charles Edward BRYANT

Cheshire born Charles was the rear gunner aboard Short Stirling BK706 HA-Y that failed to return from a raid on Dortmund on May 23/24th 1943. Charles did his training at No.26 OTU at RAF Little Horwood in August 1942 before joining No.1657 Con.Unit in March 1943 arriving at No.218 Squadron w.e.f 26th April 1943 where he joined C Flight under S/Ldr Anthony Beck. He was shot down on his fourth operation, sadly all the crew perished. Only two bodies were found, Charles and the crews navigator, Sergeant George Wishart RAFVR.
